Give Elizabeth English a Leg UP!!!

As many of you have heard, on March 29th a cyclist was hit by a truck and dragged for half a mile, only to be left in her own pool of blood waiting for help to arrive. This UT pre med student, equipped with bike lights and helmet on her head, was at the corner of MLK & Airport when it happened. Elizabeth English's life was altered forever.

"I was being dragged with my back on the pavement. I held as well as I could onto the underside of the truck. I pounded the side of the truck with my left hand as hard as I could and I screamed very loudly. My life did not flash before my eyes, but in my head I kept repeating this is not how I die. My pelvis was shattered. My back was burned down to my spinal cord and eventually my right leg had to be amputated."

Moving to Austin at 25 was the best decision of Elizabeth's life. Coming out of cold Ohio,  Elizabeth arrived in her personal mecca. The weather was amazing year round, and her seasonal depression wore off immediately. Biking, hiking, and walking became vital to the energetic spirit she had. There was nothing to stop her in a town as vibrant as Austin. Working on the weekends as a server, Elizabeth was able to support herself as she relentlessly tried to reach her goal of having the greatest life ever! She re­-enrolled in school and was accepted at UT to finish some pre-requisites before attempting to apply to med school. If not at work or at school, you could find her enjoying the outdoors, checking out National Parks, and climbing any mountain she came across. Even without a leg, Elizabeth jumps on beds, is always smiling, and still believes that life is something that should be constantly enjoyed. Her smile is real, her spirit is strong, and she will do anything to make the people around her feel the same. Please help get her back on a bicycle, and back to the and back to the outdoor lifestyle she so greatly enjoys!

A Fundraiser for Elizabeth has been set for September 10th at Austin Beer Works (3009 Industrial Terrace, Austin, TX 78758) from 1-7pm. Tickets are $25 and include live entertainment, 3 beer tickets, live auction, and raffle prizes from local groups, including complete bicycles, and cycling gear from SCOTT Sports!!!!  ALL proceeds will go to Elizabeth in an attempt to put a dent in her 1Million dollar medical bill debt.

Elizabeth and her friends and family will be present, so be sure to share your positivity with her when you see her! We hope to see your smiling faces there!
